The e-Visa finally exists for Indians. Cherry blossom, autumn colour, and what a week honestly costs.
Visa and entry for Indian passport holders
Visa required · JAPAN eVISA availableIndian passport holders need a visa for Japan. Since December 2025, tourists resident in India can apply online through the JAPAN eVISA system.
- eVISA: single-entry, tourism only, up to 90 days, ordinary passports. Upload documents and photo online, pay the consular fee, wait about 5–7 working days for the issuance notice.
- You may still be called for an interview at the embassy or consulate for your region.
- Paper applications through VFS remain available and are needed for multiple-entry or non-tourist visas.
- Carry your itinerary, hotel bookings, return ticket and bank statements — Japan checks them.
Best time to visit Japan

Questions we get asked about Japan
Do Indians need a visa for Japan?
Yes. Tourists resident in India can now apply online through the JAPAN eVISA (single entry, up to 90 days), or on paper through VFS. Allow 2–3 weeks either way.
Best time to visit Japan from India?
Cherry blossom (late March–April) and autumn colour (October–November) are the two classic windows. Both need hotels booked 4–6 months ahead.
How much does a Japan trip cost?
Our 6-night Tokyo–Kyoto–Osaka land package starts at ₹1,39,900 per person with the Shinkansen included. Flights from Delhi were about ₹66,700 return (one stop) in a November 2026 sample. With ₹6,000–10,000 a day on the ground, budget ₹2.5–2.8 lakh per person for a week.
Is Japan vegetarian-friendly?
Harder than South-East Asia. Dashi (fish stock) is in most soups and sauces. Look for shojin ryori (temple cuisine), Indian restaurants in every big city, and konbini onigiri with plain fillings. We flag the vegetarian-safe options in your itinerary.
Do I need a JR Pass?
For Tokyo–Kyoto–Osaka only, usually no — point-to-point Shinkansen tickets are cheaper since the 2023 price rise. Our package includes the tickets you need.
