Sikkim Travel Guidelines
- For entry into certain parts of Sikkim, including Gangtok, Nathula Pass, and North Sikkim, Indian nationals must have an Inner Line Permit (ILP). To enter these areas, foreign nationals require a Protected Area Permit (PAP). The Sikkim Tourism Department or licenced tour operators are the two places to get permits.
- Travellers who seek to visit Sikkim need to register on the Sikkim Tourism App which is available on both Play Store and App Store.
- For the e-invite to be generated, travellers must reserve at least a two-night stay (either at a homestay, hotel, or guest house) and provide a declaration of the entire itinerary.
- While visiting monasteries and other religious sites, travellers must be respectful of the regional culture and customs. When visiting temples or monasteries, dress modestly, take your shoes off, and ask permission before taking pictures, particularly of religious artefacts.
